Job Purpose
The Roadway Design Project Manager will work under the Director of Design to provide designs, management, and execution of roadway engineering department projects. S/he will be responsible for managing project budgets and deadlines and for providing Quality Control efforts. Additionally, the Project Manager will support business development efforts.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide project management including planning, developing, implementing, managing, and evaluating design projects to ensure company objectives are met
- Oversees and participates in the preparation of design drawings in accordance with various federal, state, and municipal standards governing the design of roadway engineering projects.
- Provides design guidance to production staff and QA/QC
- Lead, manage, and hold accountable (LMA) project engineers
- Prepare drawings using MicroStation/GEOPAK, AutoTURN, and/or similar type software. OpenRoads Designer experience is a plus
- Prepares project bit documents/specifications
- Oversees quantities and cost estimating efforts
- Involved with project administrative activities including proposal preparation, monthly billing, billing projections, etc.
- Maintain client satisfaction/confidentiality
- Assists with project pursuits in providing technical expertise on proposals and marketing meetings
Qualifications
Possess a Bachelor’s degree in civil or transportation engineering from an accredited university
- Master’s degree in civil or transportation engineering is a plus
- Possess Professional Engineering license (in, or ability to obtain in, NC and/or VA, SC)
- Have 5 years of transportation engineering experience
- Have experience working with state and local public agencies
- Possess strong analytical, decision making, organizational, and time management skills.
- Use strong written and oral communication skills
- Proficient with MicroStation and/or AutoCad engineering software packages standard in the industry
