Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Organize, coordinate, and oversee districtwide Future Ready efforts, including Postsecondary Readiness initiatives, career exploration planning/implementation, and strategic advising for all Davenport students.
  • Overseeand monitor CTE and Carl Perkins Budgets, including reporting and makingamendments through the Department of Education, and assuring compliance withFederal guidelines.
  • Coordinatewith teachers at 4 high schools, 5 junior highs, CTE Specialist, and districtlevel staff with regards to Carl Perkins Grant compliance, legislation updates,spending, etc.
  • Plan,supervise, and review equipment purchases and logistics for career experiences,trainings, and professional development sessions.
  • Researchand compile program data for Carl Perkins reports, activities, and applicationfor submissions, monitoring visits, and state meetings.
  • Monitordata for equity within programs, events, and recruitment efforts. Develop andimplement plans to address gaps found.
  • Planand secure funding for sustained implementation of district programs, includingfundraising events and grant submissions.
  • Spearheadand direct career experiences, including job shadows, internships,apprenticeships, discussion panels, field trips, tours, and lunch & learnsfor district programs.
  • Develop,manage, and leverage community engagement and support in district programsthrough targeted advisory councils, task forces, career experiences, and otherstudent centered opportunities.
  • Developa strategic plan for implementing a career guidance system to ensure compliancewith ICAP requirements and Postsecondary Readiness.
  • UtilizeCareer Guidance System, DCAP and ICAP, specific to CTE content areas and reviewrecommendations to place key students in valuable career experiences andwork-based learning aligned with their long-term goals and postsecondary plans.
  • Formulateand implement a plan to recruit students into DCSD CTE programs and pathwaysrelated to their interests career goals. Create and sustain a marketing andretention enrollment strategy to increase the number of students into CTEprograms of study.
  • Developand maintain a database of career experience records. Utilize the database toplace students in experiences that will build upon their interests and careergoals.
  • Providetraining and professional development to those involved in career exploration,to include: CTE teachers, Title I teachers, counselors, Special Educationteachers, and others as necessary.
  • Communicateand educate DCSD stakeholders of successes, opportunities, and events in Careerand Technical Education via social media, print publications, and digitalformats.
  • Consultwith and serve as a member on various teams and committees in order to networkand build connections to foster student experiences and postsecondaryreadiness. Teams may include: Regional Planning Partnership, EconomicDevelopment committees, Iowa UEN Districts, student initiative teams, amongothers.
  • Establish,oversee and maintain a system for districtwide Career Experiences to supportthe Work Based Learning Continuum.
  • Partnerwith Transition Alliance Program (TAP) to support Coordinators in WBLframework, resources, and community connections.
  • Otherduties as assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to -

  • Ability to routinely lift/carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels in person and/or on the telephone
  • Ability to communicate so others will be able to clearly understand a normal conversation in person and/or on the telephone
  • Ability to operate computer, copy machine, telephone, and other office equipment with dexterity and in a safe and efficient manner
  • Ability to ascend and descend stairs

Special Qualification Desired:

  • Bachelorsrequired, Masters preferred
  • Proficientin use of digital tools, including Microsoft Office and Google Drive; abilityto quickly learn district software programs
  • Effectivecommunication skills, expertise in written and verbal communication, includingcorrect grammar
  • Provenexpertise at taking the initiative to accomplish projects
  • Demonstratedexperience in community relations with business and school partners
  • Previousexperiences with grant management
  • Experiencein and/or knowledge of Career and Technical Education
  • Useof reliable vehicle for travel between schools and in community
