Duties & Responsibilities:

ENDORSEMENT REQUIRED: Any Grade Appropriate Teaching Endorsement

• Must be able to build relationships with students with a variety of social, behavioral, and academic needs.
• Must be willing to be trained in Edgenuity.
• Must be willing to teach Academic Foundations
• Must be willing to be trained in Check and Connect
• Must be willing to work with other building personnel to provide appropriate support to Redirection Program students.
• Assist Redirection Program students with goal setting for short- and long-term success in the classroom and beyond.
• Participate in home visits for Redirection Program students when appropriate.   
• Act as a liaison between Redirection Program students, families & school personnel for identified students.
• Assist students with developing healthy & effective organizational/study habits to be successful in school & life.
• Must be trained or willing to be trained in Restorative Practice
• Must implement building-wide PBIS practices in support of building and district goals.
• Must be willing to support and implement multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) for both academics and behavior.
• Keep accurate, up-to-date records on students participating in mentoring, tutoring, & school & community activities related to Redirection Program
• Certified teacher required
• Other duties as assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to -

• Sit, stand, speak, hear, see, and walk to carry out routine duties.
• Must be able to occasionally lift, move, or push items of 50 lbs. such as assisting children or moving/rearranging furniture.
• Must be able to supervise students in all types of weather.
• Meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
• Must be able to implement Crisis Prevention Intervention strategies, including appropriate physical restraint procedures and escorting.

• Willingness to accept supervisory duties that are conducive to a positive building environment.
• Understanding of the need for confidentiality with respect to student and parental rights and for conversations and hard copy information.
• Experience with Project Lead the Way (PLTW) or willingness to be trained.
• Successful candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students to ensure each child reaches his/her full potential.
