Job Summary

• Operates cash register to accept payment for merchandise or services.
• Makes accurate change, as required.

General Accountabilities

• Receives legal tender as payment for merchandise or services and makes accurate change, as required, in accordance with department's policies and procedures.
• Alerts lead cashier when in need of change so they may maintain adequate supply of cash for the purpose of making change.
• Create a welcoming environment by greeting and interacting with customers
• Ask customers questions to identify the purpose for their visit and product needs to properly assist them
• Use product knowledge and company training to make product recommendations to customer
• Provide the customer with solutions, such as product substitutions or special ordering a product when applicable
• Educate customers on current promotions & discounts
• Regularly communicates with Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager for business updates
• Maintain store standards by assisting with stocking, merchandising and recovering the store to maintain cleanliness; and completing various operational projects/tasks
• Assists in receiving product deliveries and replenishing sales floor in a timely manner
• Enforce and adhere to all company policies and procedures, including health, and safety
• Performs any other duties as directed by supervisors
• Observes customers' identification to determine their eligibility to purchase alcohol and / or tobacco. (21 )
• Examines checks, credit cards and customer identification to determine their authenticity.
• Observes computer screen after every scan to assure the item rang up correctly.
• Physically counts items after finished scanning to assure the proper amount of items were scanned.
• Is attentive to the customer, and ensures the sale is completed before moving on to the next customer.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
