Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Tree Care Crew Foreman to lead crews safely and efficiently while delivering exceptional tree care services. This position is ideal for a proven leader who values safety, professionalism, quality workmanship, crew development, and customer satisfaction.
The Crew Foreman serves as the primary field leader responsible for crew performance, job site safety, production efficiency, equipment care, communication, customer satisfaction, and overall job quality.
This is a leadership position for someone who wants to help build a professional tree care company, not simply complete tree work.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, and motivate crews of two or more employees.
- Conduct daily Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), safety briefings, and job planning meetings.
- Plan and execute daily work to meet production goals while maintaining safety and quality standards.
- Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to company quality standards.
- Perform and oversee pruning, removals, rigging, cabling, bracing, and other arboricultural services.
- Train, mentor, and develop crew members while promoting a strong safety culture.
- Assist in evaluating, training, and developing future crew leaders and arborists.
- Monitor productivity, workflow, and job progress throughout the day.
- Communicate effectively with the Operations Manager, Sales Arborists, Office Manager, and clients regarding job progress, field changes, and customer concerns.
- Operate and oversee the safe use of company trucks, trailers, chippers, loaders, aerial lifts, chainsaws, stump grinders, cranes, and other tree care equipment.
- Ensure equipment inspections, maintenance reporting, and overall equipment care are completed daily.
- Maintain clean, organized, and professional job sites.
- Complete work orders, equipment inspections, maintenance reports, and required documentation.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, ANSI Z133, ANSI A300, TCIA, and Dave's Tree Service safety standards.
Qualifications
- Three or more years of professional tree care experience preferred.
- Previous crew leadership, foreman, or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of pruning, removals, rigging, climbing, equipment operation, and safe work practices.
- Ability to effectively lead crews, manage workflow, and solve problems in the field.
- Strong understanding of tree biology and ANSI A300 pruning standards.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required.
- Class A or Class B CDL preferred. Candidates without a CDL must be willing to obtain one. Dave's Tree Service provides support and training for qualified employees working toward their CDL.
- ISA Certified Arborist, CTSP, or TCIA certifications are a plus.
- Ability to lift 75 pounds and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Compensation
- $25.00–$45.00 per hour depending on experience, certifications, leadership ability, and qualifications.
- Overtime paid in accordance with applicable law.
- Annual performance reviews.
- $1,500 Hiring Bonus available for qualified candidates.
- Performance bonuses may be awarded based on safety, leadership, productivity, work quality, customer satisfaction, equipment care, training, and operational excellence.
