Duties
- Assist with the setup and operation of bucket trucks, rigging, and other tree care equipment to facilitate safe tree trimming, pruning, and removal
- Support arborists in climbing, rigging, and dismantling trees using appropriate safety procedures
- Perform ground-based tasks such as lawn care, landscape maintenance, planting, and general site cleanup to maintain a tidy work environment
- Help with plant pruning care to promote healthy growth and aesthetic appeal of trees and shrubs
- Use chainsaws and other hand tools safely under supervision for trimming or cutting tasks
- Conduct basic inspections of trees for signs of disease or structural issues using dendrology knowledge (the study of woody plants)
- Follow safety protocols diligently to ensure a secure work environment for all team members
Skills
- Basic understanding of tree care practices including tree trimming, pruning, and planting techniques
- Experience with landscape maintenance, lawn care, or gardening is a plus
- Familiarity with equipment such as bucket trucks, chainsaws, and other power tools; certification in bucket operation is advantageous
- Ability to perform rigging tasks safely when dismantling or removing trees
- Knowledge of horticulture principles and growing experience helps support healthy plant growth
- Strong physical stamina for outdoor work in various weather conditions; ability to stand, walk, lift heavy objects, and perform manual labor effectively
- Basic GIS (Geographic Information Systems) knowledge can be beneficial for site mapping or planning tasks
