Position Details (seeking one candidate for either full or part-time):

- Full-Time: 40 hours per week with an annual salary of $30.7K.

- Part-Time: 25 hours per week with an annual salary of $19.2K.

- Benefits: Paid vacation and accrued sick leave (Note: no vacation or sick leave for part-time position).


Role Description

The Hospital Service and Transportation Coordinator (HSC/TC) is a full-time (or parttime with reduced duties), on-site role based at Prescott, AZ, VA Hospital. The HSC/TC will oversee and manage transportation services for veterans in the local Prescott, Flagstaff, Kingman, Cottonwood, Sedona and Lake Havasu City areas, ensuring that they have access to necessary medical care. Core responsibilities include scheduling transportation, supervising volunteer drivers, coordinating with VA Patient Travel, service providers, and maintaining accurate transportation records. The HSC/TC will also manage the 10 assigned government vehicles along with the VA Fleet Manager. This role also requires frequent communication with veterans, ensuring their transportation needs are met efficiently and respectfully while prioritizing safety and compliance with organizational standards.


Qualifications

  • Strong Operations Management and Transportation Management skills to coordinate and oversee effective service delivery.
  • Excellent Communication and Customer Service abilities to interact with veterans, staff, and volunteers in a professional and empathetic manner.
  • Strong Organization Skills to manage scheduling, records, and logistics efficiently.
  • Familiarity with safety and compliance standards related to transportation services is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as well as independently in an often fast-paced environment.
  • Prior experience in transportation services is a plus.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education in a related field is a bonus.
  • Must pass a background check and a basic physical (provided at no cost) though the VA


Key Responsibilities:

- Assist in coordinating transportation for veterans to and from VA medical appointments.

- Provide support to Veterans in filing VA disability compensation benefit claims (full-time position only).

- Efficiently use provided software, including Outlook, Adobe and Excel.

- Familiar with local and Northern AZ community roads and routes to ensure effective transportation coordination.

- Demonstrates superior communication and writing abilities.

- Capable of multitasking effectively.

- Shows adaptability, flexibility, and strong leadership skills.

- Displays a high level of confidence, empathy, and compassion.

- Able to work independently with minimal supervision.

- Maintains a non-judgmental attitude and professional boundaries while working with Veterans with diverse backgrounds and circumstances.

- Possesses a positive attitude and enjoys working with people.

- This role is ideal for someone not entirely dependent on this income for primary living expenses but looking for extra spending cash.
