About the role:
Dauphin County Technical School is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Business Administrator to lead the financial and business operations of the school. This position is responsible for budgeting, accounting, purchasing, payroll oversight, insurance administration, audits, food service, warehouse operations, and additional non-instructional functions as assigned.
We are looking for someone who is dependable, analytical, organized, and committed to maintaining strong fiscal practices that support the mission of the school. This leadership role requires collaboration with the Administrative Director, Joint Operating Committee, supervisors, and partner districts. The ideal candidate communicates effectively, demonstrates strong professional judgment, and takes pride in managing efficient and compliant business operations.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Master’s degree preferred
- Registered School Business Administrator (preferred)
- CPA and MBA credentials preferred
- Minimum of three years of related experience
- Valid driver’s license
- Strong knowledge of financial systems, accounting practices, and state reporting requirements
- Ability to analyze financial data and prepare decision-support reports
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and financial software platforms

Primary Responsibilities:
- Supervise business office, warehouse, and cafeteria operations with support from managers and supervisors
- Maintain inventory systems, business office records, and asset documentation
- Oversee purchasing, including review of requisitions, bid processes, advertisements, and recommendations
- Coordinate procurement schedules for instructional and operational needs
- Provide financial reporting to partner districts and state agencies
- Prepare monthly financial and statistical reports for the Joint Operating Committee and annual state reporting
- Administer insurance coverage for the school and staff, including reporting and renewals
- Serve as custodian of financial documents, securities, and inventory records
- Develop long-range financial plans aligned with school objectives and facilities planning
- Prepare and present the annual budget, including comparative and supporting analyses
- Review and improve fiscal procedures and internal control systems
- Maintain accounting records for all school funds including receipts, expenditures, and reconciliations
- Oversee payroll processing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and cash flow management
- Coordinate internal and external audits
- Recommend investment strategies and verify availability of funds before commitments
- Serve as purchasing agent and support board committees such as Finance and Building and Property
- Collaborate with administration, human resources, and other departments to support operations
- Supervise, train, mentor, and evaluate assigned business office staff
- Assess staffing needs and recommend adjustments
- Provide financial analysis and fiscal guidance to administration
- Solve operational, financial, and procedural issues in compliance with policy and regulation
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Administrative Director
Salary:
Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. The position follows a full-time, 260-day schedule with some evening or weekend work as required.
