The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is seeking a Sr. Director of Human Resources to oversee all strategic and operational HR functions for the organization.
The Sr. Director will provide key leadership and oversee daily HR operations and a team of two. This position requires expertise in all facets of human resources to drive the organization's strategy of attracting, developing, and retaining top talent at all levels and will ensure the implementation of innovative, best-practice HR programs and processes.
The role encompasses a broad range of HR responsibilities, including overseeing full-cycle professional staff recruitment, onboarding and offboarding, staff compensation and benefits, employee engagement/relations, compliance, and policy development.
The Sr. Director will also work with executive and departmental leadership to provide expert counsel and advice on complex matters such as compensation, workforce and succession planning, performance management and aligning best practices with the organizational mission.
The successful candidate will bring a strong business acumen and a solutions-driven mindset. Exceptional coaching abilities, high emotional intelligence and the ability to navigate complex issues are also critical for success.
The DAR offers:
- Hiring annual salary range from $130,000 to $160,000, with the final determination based upon the candidate's overall experience

Qualified candidates offer:
- Bachelor's degree in an applicable discipline is required, master's degree preferred. An HR certification is a plus.
- Minimum of 8 years of previous experience directing the Human Resources function.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, diplomacy and sensitivity, and the ability to exercise considerable judgment and discretion in establishing, building and maintaining effective working relationships.
- Ability to provide hands-on experience and support as well as high-level strategy.
- Advanced written, analytical, organizational, communication and presentation/speaking skills.
- Ability to develop and analyze a budget consistent with departmental and organizational objectives.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of federal and state laws and fiduciary responsibility provisions necessary for compliance with District of Columbia and federal regulations.
- Ability to utilize tools and technology to enhance performance and use data to drive decision making.
- Knowledge of ADP Workforce Now and recruiting software is a plus.
