What are the responsibilities and job description for the Utility Worker position at Daughters of Sarah Community for Seniors?
Daughters of Sarah Nursing Center is a 210-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility located in Albany. We are currently seeking applicants for our Full-Time Utility Worker. If selected, you will be responsible for conducting machine setup, troubleshooting, repairs and preventive maintenance services for the Nursing Center.
The basic responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting/patching, and carpentry skills to include installation and maintenance of commercial doors, framing, sheetrock installation, taping and mudding.
- Must have a working knowledge of floor installation including ceramic, VCT, LVT and carpet.
- Ability to troubleshoot and address maintenance issues in resident rooms and common areas.
- Must know how to safely and properly use and maintain tools and machinery
- Ability to work on-call and overtime hours.
- Ability to maintain professionalism while in continuous contact with residents and other employees.
- Knowledge of cleaning methods and techniques.
- Ability to maintain and operate a company truck.
- Ability to multi-task, establish priorities and manage time.
- Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces and lift 50 lbs
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Ability to maintain a positive relationship with coworkers and supervisors.
- Must have a valid, clean New York State driver’s license.
- Emergency Calls and Storms: Available for off-hour emergencies. Responds to emergency calls promptly and appropriately. Building or grounds emergencies are repaired. Communicates impact of emergencies appropriately. Calls for assistance when needed. Available for emergency storm schedule. Operates all company owned equipment and vehicles during snow storms.
- Performs other duties as may be requested or required on a non-regular basis.
Hours: 7:00am –3:00pm
This position also includes some on-call responsibilities, so some flexibility is required.
Job Requirements/Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 2 years of related experience required
- Knowledge in HVAC/Electrical/Plumbing
- Knowledge of sheetrock and carpentry
