Full job description
Daughters of Miriam (formerly Montefiore) is seeking a Healthcare Assistant Dietary Manager. This individual will be able to manage by planning, organizing, and directing the overall operations of the Dining Services department. The director must maintain compliance with current federal, state, and local standards while ensuring quality nutritional meals that are prepared and served from kitchens that are maintained in a clean, safe and sanitary manner.
Responsibilities of the Assistant Dietary Manager include, but are not limited to:
- Inspects the Dietary Department daily to ensure that it is safe and sanitary.
- Inspects storage areas on a daily basis for proper temperatures, cleanliness, and order.
- Submits written reports to the administration as necessary.
- Is responsible for food purchase, production, and timely service of meals.
- Ensures all food is prepared, tasted and served in a professional manner that meets the needs of our most discerning residents.
- Directs and supervises all dietary functions and personnel.
- Purchases food products from approved vendors.
- Has a working knowledge of costs based on PPD’s and able to adhere and adjust to budget requirements.
- Responsible for the oversight of hiring, orienting, training, counseling and discipline, of all dietary employees.
- Schedules work hours and assignments and reviews staff work performance.
- Participates in department head meetings.
- Participates in monthly QAPI meetings and prepares reports accordingly.
- Participates in the Manager on Duty program
QUALIFICATIONS OF DIETARY MANAGER/FOOD SERVICE DIRECTOR:
- Must be knowledgeable of Federal and State rules and regulations regarding nursing home dietary requirements
- Graduate of a culinary or nutritional program preferred
- Prior food service experience in a long-term care setting, preferred
- Prior supervisory experience, preferred
- Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance
