Position Summary
The Quality Specialist will ensure that Datum’s Greenwood, SC facility maintains the highest standards of product quality and regulatory compliance. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and working in coordination with CertainTeed’s Quality Department, this role is responsible for conducting inspections, documenting results, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives on the production floor.
This position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to communicate across departments, and the discipline to enforce strict compliance with Datum and CertainTeed’s quality standards.
Core Responsibilities
- Perform routine in-process and final product inspections to ensure compliance with CertainTeed and Datum quality standards.
- Document and track quality metrics, inspection results, and non-conformance reports.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective action processes in collaboration with Datum and CertainTeed quality teams.
- Monitor compliance with applicable codes, specifications, and customer requirements.
- Assist with Material Review Board (MRB) activities, including disposition of non-conforming materials.
- Participate in quality review sessions with Datum and CertainTeed leadership.
- Assist in developing and updating SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) related to quality.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and quality excellence throughout the facility.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Associate’s degree in Quality, Engineering, or related technical discipline (preferred).
- 2–4 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with exposure to quality assurance functions.
- Familiarity with ISO standards, SPC (Statistical Process Control), and basic quality tools (e.g., root cause analysis, corrective action).
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Effective communicator, able to collaborate across production and quality functions.
- Ability to enforce compliance with professionalism and integrity.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); ERP system experience is a plus.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Based onsite at Datum’s Greenwood, SC facility.
- Frequent presence on the production floor to monitor quality compliance.
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods; occasional lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Use of required PPE: hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots.
- Seasonal temperature fluctuations and moderate noise levels typical of a factory setting.
