Datrose is seeking an experienced Software Quality Assurance (QA) Analyst to support the New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS) in Albany, NY.
We're looking for someone who doesn't just follow a test script but thinks critically, asks questions, challenges assumptions, and catches problems before they reach production.
If you have strong experience in software testing, Jira, Agile environments, and test script development, this could be an excellent opportunity to put your expertise to work supporting important New York State applications.
- Pay: $33.00-$42.00 per hour, based on experience
- Location: Albany, NY
- Contract: 2 years
- Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:00 PM (37.5 hours per week)
- Hybrid Potential: Up to 50% remote work may be permitted with hiring manager approval

- Please note: This is a software quality assurance and application testing position, not an IT help desk or desktop support role.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll play an important role in making sure DFS applications work the way they're supposed to, before they reach the people who depend on them.
- Find the bugs. Fix the process. Improve the product.
- Your responsibilities will include:
- Put applications to the test: Perform manual, system, integration, UAT, regression, and other software testing to identify issues before release.
- Build smarter testing processes: Develop detailed test plans, test cases, and scripts that evaluate application functionality and performance.
- Track down defects: Use Jira to document bugs, monitor resolutions, retest fixes, and keep project teams informed.
- Think beyond the test script: Conduct exploratory testing to uncover unexpected issues, edge cases, and potential vulnerabilities in application functionality.
- Support automation: Design and execute manual and automated testing activities for new features and application enhancements.
- Work with the development team: Collaborate with developers, project managers, and stakeholders to clarify requirements and establish acceptance criteria.
- Keep quality moving forward: Maintain regression test suites, track QA metrics, report testing progress, and identify opportunities for improvement.
What You Need to Bring
We're looking for demonstrated, hands-on software QA experience. The following are minimum requirements, not simply preferred qualifications.
