What are the responsibilities and job description for the Account Executive - Northern Illinois position at DataWrangler by CLOCworks?
Full-time, remote in Northern Illinois
Schools are overpaying on electricity and most of them don’t know it. We do, and we’ve already helped more than 90 districts take that money back.
This is a build-it-yourself role, and that’s the best part. The Illinois territory is wide open. You’ll own the hunt end to end, from first call to closed deal, with uncapped commission and real upside for whoever gets there first.
The short version
You sell our energy data service to K-12 school districts across Illinois. Most of your buyers are superintendents, business officers, and facility directors. The product saves them real money. Districts already on our platform are cutting their electric bills with us every year.
Base is $70,000 plus uncapped commission, with an OTE of $120K. You’ll also get equity in a growing company.
About the work
DataWrangler is a growing company. More than 90 school districts already use our platform to pull their electric meter data, see where money is leaking, and act on it. Districts are always trying to find dollars without cutting programs. We help them do that.
The money we save shows up back in classrooms. Teachers, materials, kids. That’s the part of the job that matters most to us, and it’s the part most of our reps come to care about too.
What you’d actually do
Your job is straightforward: build a book of business from nothing. Prospect hard, move deals through the cycle fast, and close. You find the right districts, get to the right people, and keep deals moving so nothing stalls out. Nobody hands you a pipeline. You build it.
You’ll work remotely from anywhere in Illinois, but plan to be on the road regularly. School district sales happen in person. District offices, board meetings, industry events. A reliable vehicle and a valid driver’s license are required.
Who we’re hoping to talk to
Three years of closing experience selling into K-12 school districts is required. That one’s not flexible. The buyer dynamics and budget rhythms in K-12 take time to learn, and we need someone who already knows them. Existing relationships with Illinois superintendents, business officers, and facility directors are a real advantage.
This is a build-from-scratch role, so we need a self-starter. You’ll be creating your own activity without a lot of hand-holding, and waiting for leads to land is not the job.
No energy experience needed. We’ll train you on that side. We can’t train hustle.
Beyond the K-12 background, you need comfort running a long sales cycle, the ability to read a room full of non-technical buyers, and a track record of hitting your number.
