Network & Infrastructure Solutions Design Engineer

DataServ/xFact is seeking a Network & Infrastructure Solutions Design Engineer to support customers across Southwest Ohio, with a focus in the Dayton–Cincinnati area. This role is centered on the design of practical, scalable network and infrastructure solutions in a pre-sales environment. A successful candidate will own solution designs while receiving ongoing coaching and support through peer collaboration and leadership engagement. Approximately 80% of projects support K–12 environments, offering stable projects, long-term customer relationships, and meaningful community impact.

There will be limited regional travel within Southwest Ohio is required for customer discovery and site surveys.

What Success Looks Like:

• Independently owning assigned solution designs

• Producing clear, accurate, and supportable designs and quotes

• Participating in peer review and coaching opportunities

What you’ll do:

• Solution Design & Pre-Sales

  • Partner with Account Executives to design networking, wireless, and infrastructure solutions

  • Develop accurate quotes, scopes of work, and support design documentation

  • Participate in discovery calls, technical reviews, and customer-facing presentations

• Technical & Field Engagement

  • Perform site surveys and assessments to validate design assumptions

  • Participate in regional customer discovery meetings and solution walkthroughs

  • Research and recommend technologies aligned to customer needs and standards

• Cross-Team Collaboration

  • Serve as a technical bridge between Sales, Design, and Project Delivery teams

  • Support clean handoff from design to implementation teams

  • Provide design coverage and backup support for peer engineers as needed

What we require:

• Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or related professional experience in design, implementation, and management of IT systems

• Experience:

  • Five years experience in the design, implementation and/or management of IT systems including networking, wireless, telephony and server systems. Experience in video security, physical security and/or cybersecurity desirable

  • Experience in help desk support and/or pre-sales network design preferred

• Skills:

  • Networking and/or Compute certifications preferred

  • Limited travel to various company and customer sites as necessary

• Additional proficiencies we seek:

  • Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills, in both collaborative team and customer-facing environments

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams

  • Candidates are required to complete a drug test and background check
