Job Title: Milling Machine Machinist 3

Location: Palmdale, CA

Duration: 6 months

Roles & Responsibilities

*) Sets up and operates plain, universal, horizontal, and vertical milling machines to perform complex machining operations.

*) Performs machining tasks such as compound angles and contours, boring compound angular holes, helical and spiral milling, serrating, and gear, spline, and keyway cutting to exact tolerances.

*) Selects, mounts, and aligns specialized machine attachments and tooling.

*) Plans sequence of operations, determines setups, and adjusts speeds, feeds, and depth of cut.

*) Interprets blueprints, engineering drawings, sketches, and specifications.

*) Uses precision measuring instruments and machinist hand tools to verify dimensions and tolerances.

*) Performs layout work, marks reference points, and prepares stock for machining operations.

*) Conducts in-process inspections and supports quality verification procedures.

*) Develops CNC programs, sets up machines, and runs complete machining operations with minimal supervision.


Basic Qualifications:

*) Minimum 10 years of machining experience operating CNC mills and lathes.

*) Experience with 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis CNC milling machines.

*) Experience with CNC lathes utilizing live tooling.

*) Strong blueprint reading and interpretation skills.

*) Experience with Mastercam (MCAM) programming.

*) Proficiency in measurement, inspection, and precision machining techniques.

*) Ability to independently program, set up, and operate CNC machines.

*) High School Diploma or GED.


Preferred Qualifications:

*) Performs in-process and pre-inspection quality checks prior to CMM inspection.

*) Experienced with true 5-axis gantry machines (SNK) and wire EDM operations.
