Description:
Seeking a skilled Teradata Administrator with strong expertise in performance optimization, upgrade, support activities, and development. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing Teradata environments, ensuring high availability, optimizing query performance, and supporting business-critical applications. This role requires both technical depth and problem-solving skills to maintain and enhance enterprise data systems.
Database Administration
o Install, configure, upgrade and maintain Teradata systems.
o Manage database objects (tables, views, indexes, partitions).
o Monitor system health, capacity, and performance.
Performance Optimization
o Analyze and tune SQL queries for efficiency.
o Implement workload management strategies.
o Optimize database design for scalability and speed.
o Conduct performance testing and benchmarking.
- Support Activities
o Provide day-to-day support for production environments.
o Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues.
o Ensure system availability, reliability, and disaster recovery readiness.
o Collaborate with application teams to resolve data-related problems.
- Development & Enhancement
o Support ETL processes and data integration workflows.
o Develop scripts and automation for routine tasks.
o Participate in data modeling and schema design.
o Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Security & Compliance
Manage user access, roles, and privileges.
Ensure compliance with organizational data governance policies.
Implement backup and recovery strategies.
Required Skills & Experience
Strong hands-on experience with Teradata database administration.
Proficiency in SQL query tuning and optimization.
Knowledge of Teradata utilities (FastLoad, MultiLoad, BTEQ, TPT).
Experience with ETL tools and data integration processes.
Familiarity with performance monitoring tools and workload management.
Experience in Linux/Unix environments and scripting (Shell, Python, etc.).
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Qualifications
10 years of experience in Teradata administration and support.
Certifications in Teradata or related technologies (preferred).
Nice-to-Have
Exposure to cloud-based Teradata solutions (Teradata Vantage).
Experience with BI/Analytics tools (Tableau, Power BI, SAS).
Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and big data ecosystems.
