Data Metalcraft is looking to add a General Machine Operator to grow with our team!
Data Metalcraft is a manufacturer of formed sheet metal and welded cabinets used in fiber communications, power grids, and industrial products. Our products utilize a broad range of materials, including aluminum, stainless steel, and mild steel.
A General Machine Operator in a sheet metal shop is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining various fabrication machines to cut, bend, drill, tap and shape metal sheets into parts based on blueprints, schematics, and work orders. This position will also operate a Spot Welder.
Available Shifts:
1st Shift-6:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m. (Monday-Friday)
2nd Shift- 3:00 p.m.-1:30 a.m. (Monday-Thursday)
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Sets up and operates presses to install fasteners—studs, nuts, standoffs—into metal parts, ensuring they meet blueprint specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, job travelers, and technical drawings to determine hardware types and exact locations.
- Verify hardware installation is flush, secure, and properly aligned, utilizing calipers or gauges to check for quality
- Prepare, load, and sort hardware (nuts, studs, standoffs) for insertion
- Ensure proper sequencing and that all hardware is installed before releasing parts to the next department.
- Operates resistance welding equipment to join metal components (typically steel or aluminum) by applying heat and pressure, often without filler materials
- Set up and operate resistance welding machines to join sheet metal components based on blueprints, method layouts, and production orders.
- Adjust machine controls for proper heat, pressure, and timing to accommodate different material types and thicknesses.
- Position, align, and fit metal components together using jigs, fixtures, and clamps before welding.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in a metal fabrication or machine shop environment is highly preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and welding specifications.
- High level of manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for precision work.

- This position operates in a shop floor environment where PPE may be required (e.g., safety glasses, gloves).
Pay: From $22.00 per hour
