Data Metalcraft is seeking an Engineering Support / Drafter to join our Engineering Department. This role is ideal for someone with approximately 1 year of experience who wants to grow in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
In this position, you will support the engineering and production teams by preparing manufacturing information for release to the shop floor. You will work within a defined system for routing and managing information so that each downstream operation has the correct data needed for production. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and interested in building a career in engineering and manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Assist with preparing and releasing production information to the shop floor.
- Review routing and process-step development for manufacturing.
- Help ensure correct information is shared with downstream operations.
- Work with engineering documentation, revisions, and controlled information flow.
- Communicate discrepancies or missing information to the appropriate team members.
- Maintain accurate records and follow established engineering procedures.
- Assist in preparing flat patterns and part information for fabrication processes.
Qualifications
- Working knowledge of CAD software preferred.
- Approximately 1 year of experience in drafting, CAD, engineering support, or manufacturing support.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and customer prints.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work within structured processes and information systems.
- Technical college training is a plus.
Preferred Background
- Exposure to sheet metal, fabrication, or manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with production documentation and shop-floor information release.
- Interest in engineering processes and manufacturing workflow.
