Role Description

We are seeking a highly motivated RFID Solutions Engineer (SE) to support the design, implementation, and optimization of RFID-based solutions. This role bridges technical expertise and customer-facing engagement, working closely with sales, clients, and engineering teams to deliver effective, real-world deployments. This is an on-site role based in Ellington, Connecticut, with travel required for customer engagements and project work.

In this role, you will design end-to-end RFID solutions, including readers, antennas, tags, middleware, and overall integration architecture. You will apply a strong understanding of signal propagation and real-world use cases to select appropriate RFID standards and determine optimal reader and antenna placement. A key part of the role includes conducting site surveys and feasibility assessments, while continuously optimizing read accuracy, coverage, and system reliability across customer environments.

You will be involved in the setup, testing, and validation of RFID systems, as well as advanced solutions such as machine vision tunnels, conveyors, and robotics. This includes troubleshooting performance issues related to RF interference, hardware placement, and system configuration, while partnering with Systems Engineers on network and connectivity requirements.

From a customer-facing standpoint, you will serve as a technical resource during evaluations and pilot engagements, supporting Sales with demonstrations, technical validation, and solution scoping. You will translate customer operational needs into practical, scalable RFID system designs that align with real-world workflows.

You will also contribute to ongoing technology evaluation by assessing RFID hardware, software platforms, and emerging standards. This includes developing and maintaining design documentation, deployment playbooks, and best practices to support consistency and scalability across projects.

A strong understanding of IP networking and industrial communication protocols is important, along with proficiency in Microsoft Windows-based applications and the ability to interpret engineering drawings and create technical documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, or related field, with 3–5 years of hands-on RFID solution design and deployment experience (UHF preferred)
  • Strong understanding of RF principles, including antennas, readers, tagging strategies, and system performance optimization
  • Experience designing and deploying RFID solutions in warehouse, manufacturing, or fleet environments
  • Experience with RFID platforms (e.g., Zebra, RedBeam, Impinj), system integrations (APIs/middleware), and working knowledge of programming (C#/.NET, Java, JavaScript, Python, SQL)
  • Knowledge of IP networking and industrial communication protocols, with the ability to read technical documentation and schematics
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills, with a willingness to travel for customer engagements
  • This position is based in-office in Ellington, CT, and requires the ability and willingness to travel for customer meetings, site surveys, deployments, and support
