Duties
- Install, troubleshoot, and repair ammonia refrigeration systems, including compressors, condensers, evaporators, and associated piping
- Read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and HVAC design documents to diagnose issues accurately
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on refrigeration equipment to ensure optimal performance
- Conduct mechanical repairs such as welding, pipe fitting, and equipment replacement using appropriate tools and techniques
- Use diagnostic tools like ohmmeters to test electrical components and ensure system integrity
- Maintain detailed service records, work orders, and safety documentation in compliance with industry standards
- Assist with property maintenance tasks related to HVAC/R systems including air conditioning units, boilers, and plumbing fixtures
Experience
- Proven experience as a service technician specializing in refrigeration systems, particularly ammonia-based setups
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in equipment repair, welding, and HVAC system troubleshooting
- Familiarity with construction practices related to installing or modifying refrigeration and HVAC systems
- Ability to read schematics and technical diagrams for complex refrigeration or HVAC designs
- Field service experience working on ammonia refrigeration units in industrial or commercial settings
- Knowledge of appliance repair techniques applicable to commercial refrigeration appliances
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience operating
drivers preferred - Proficiency with testing instruments such as ohmmeters and other diagnostic tools used in equipment troubleshooting
- Experience working with property maintenance teams on HVAC/R systems including air conditioning units and boilers
- Mechanical or technical certifications related to HVAC/R or refrigeration are highly desirable
