IT Manager
Full-Time, Onsite – Mountain View, CA (moving to Sunnyvale)
We are helping a client -- an early-stage, venture-backed AI and robotics company building the next generation of generalist intelligent robots -- identify candidates for this position. With over $400M raised, they are aggressively investing in model research, infrastructure, hardware development, and manufacturing scale-up. Their robots are designed to operate in complex, real-world environments — made possible by cutting-edge research and end-to-end system design.
The Role
The IT Manager will lead the IT function, taking end-to-end ownership of corporate infrastructure, identity, endpoints, and security posture. The role is both strategic and hands-on: setting the long-term direction of the function while remaining technically engaged in day-to-day operations.
What You'll Do
Network & Infrastructure
Own corporate network design and operation across all facilities. Lead VLAN segmentation, firewall configuration, and wireless architecture. Maintain proper network segmentation between corporate, lab, guest, IoT, and dev environments. Own remote access architecture and ensure it meets access control, logging, and auditability requirements for compliance reviews. Own administration of AV systems following installation, including account management, monitoring, firmware, and incident response. Manage strategic networking and infrastructure vendors.
IT Compliance
Support and be accountable for IT-related aspects of the client's information security program, including policy, standards, controls, and audit readiness. Implement and maintain IT controls required to support compliance programs. Own evidence collection, control documentation, and remediation for IT-scoped findings, in partnership with the information security program owner. Operationalize policies covering access control, credential management, device security, acceptable use, incident response, vendor risk, and data classification. Implement the technical controls behind those policies: SSO and MFA enforcement, credential management, endpoint protection, MDM, logging, and audit. Own customer security questionnaire response and act as the senior point of contact for customer security reviews.
Endpoints & Identity
Own the laptop and device fleet: procurement, imaging, MDM, encryption, patching, and lifecycle management. Own identity and access management. Build and maintain a clean joiner/mover/leaver process, automated provisioning where possible, and regular access reviews. Evaluate and deploy hardware security keys, endpoint protection, and application control tooling appropriate to the client's risk profile.
SaaS Administration
Own SSO, provisioning, license management, and security configuration across the SaaS stack. Partner with functional owners on day-to-day application administration while retaining ownership of security posture and access governance.
Strategy, Vendors, and Team
Build and maintain the IT roadmap aligned to company growth, facilities expansion, and customer and information security compliance requirements. Manage IT and security vendors, MSPs, and contractors. Hold partners accountable to SLAs and contractual commitments. Own the IT budget.
Required Qualifications
7 years of progressive experience in IT and infrastructure, including direct ownership of a function at a venture-backed or growth-stage company. Hands-on networking expertise — able to independently design and operate enterprise networks (firewall configuration, VLAN architecture, wireless design) across multiple vendor platforms. Demonstrated experience supporting an information security program against a recognized framework such as TISAX, SOC 2, ISO 27001, or NIST CSF, including audit and certification cycles. Strong Google Workspace administration experience: SSO, SCIM, context-aware access, security center, and audit logging. Endpoint management experience (Kandji, Jamf, Intune, or equivalent). Excellent written and verbal communication — able to produce executive-level summaries and policy documents. Track record of operating as a senior leader, including managing vendors, budgets, and cross-functional stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience scaling IT and security functions through rapid company growth. Experience in robotics, hardware, or laboratory environments where network and infrastructure requirements extend beyond standard office IT. Experience supporting compliance or certification programs from the IT side, such as TISAX, ISO 27001, SOC 2, or IEC 62443 — direct experience with TISAX or in the automotive supply chain is a plus. Familiarity with secure software development practices and source control security. Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCSP, GIAC, or Stanford's Advanced Cybersecurity Certification are a plus.
