JOB SUMMARY:This is a 2026 summer internship in our Legacy Business Unit department. The intern will focus on the standardization of the tooling room through the implementation of the 5S methodology. The objective is to create a highly organized, efficient, and safe workspace by ensuring that only necessary items are present, every tool and material has a designated place, and cleanliness is maintained consistently. The intern will lead efforts to identify and remove obsolete tools, develop visual indicators for work-in-process items, and promote daily adherence to 5S standards among all users of the area.PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):Demonstrate an understanding of lean manufacturingAchieve full 5S compliance in the tooling room, resulting in improved organization, reduced waste, and enhanced productivity.Establish clear visual management systems for tools and materials.Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability among team members using the tooling room.Document and propose processes and outcomes to support future standardization initiatives.MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Strong capability to analyze and make synthesisStrong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint 3D CAD experience (SolidWorks, CATIA V5, or similar)Strong communication skills, written and oral and the ability to create and clearly present new ideas or concepts.Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university seeking an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Aerospace, or other engineering related field and must reside in the United States. Must be at least a sophomore status.ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Mechanical Engineering, Industrial, Aerospace major preferredCOMPENSATION:The compensation for this position is $20.00 per hour.
