Material Handler Level 1

Purpose: 

At DASI, the role of the Material Handler is to fulfil distribution and Inventory Cycle count function performed within the warehouse necessary to service the customer.

Key accountabilities: 

• Perform tasks associated with the receipt, storage, inventory cycle count and shipment of product, while meeting productivity, quality, safety, business  conduct  and attendance expectations.
• Effectively and efficiently use established procedures, tools, equipment, and technologies to complete transactions related to inbound and outbound processes with a distribution center.
• Safely perform assigned warehouse functions utilizing established processes, procedures and tools, while meeting performance expectations for productivity, quality, safety and attendance.
• Functions may include, but are not limited to unloading, put-away, sorting, labeling, picking, packing, replenishing, cycle count, auditing, shipping, making  boxes, etc.
• Verification of inventory quantities and condition at pick locations or stock locations within the warehouse.
• Count and account for shortages, mis-picks and credits. 
• Research inventory variances as part of the Cycle Count Audit Program.
• Report inventory discrepancies of his/her findings or any inventory related variance to the Inventory Manager.
• Comply with policies, guidelines and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations, OSHA and Hazardous Material requirements in the storage, handling and movement of product.
• Perform necessary housekeeping duties in order to maintain a clean, safe, organized work environment.
• Actively participate in process improvements by utilizing the DASI quality system.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Key skills and competences:

• Can tolerate an environment with exposure to heat, noise, dust and work around moving equipment.
• Can meet productivity, quality, safety, and attendance requirements, including overtime as required.
• Must be self-motivated.
• Demonstrates pride in own work.
• Can continuously lift up to 75 pounds and be able to operate warehouse vehicles and material handling equipment.
• Can operate computerized scanning equipment.
• Can work in a team environment.

Experience and qualifications:

• Must have a minimum of 6-12 months warehouse or related experience.
• Forklift experience prefered.
