What are the responsibilities and job description for the Standardized Patient - PRN position at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center?
Responsibilities
- Undergoes training to learn how to present the medical history, simulate the physical symptoms, and portray the emotions of the patient upon whom the case was based.
- Give learners immediate verbal feedback on performance as well as evaluate learner performance based on an evaluation checklist specific to the case.
- May also be used to portray the roles of family members or others to allow learners to practice communication skills involving more dynamic communication and critical thinking skills.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- High School graduates preferred.
- Some acting skills preferred or a desire to act.
- Must complete application and orientation requirements for DH staff.
- Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing.
- Physical requirements consist of standing, sitting, writing, and speaking. Successful completion of training program for standardized patients by the patient safety training center before working in the role of a standardized patient required.
