Overview
Dartmouth Health is seeking an experienced and dynamic Medical Director to lead our Headache Medicine Program. This position offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of headache care, education, and research in a supportive and innovative environment. The successful candidate will provide expert clinical care, oversee program development, and serve as a leader in advancing headache neurology within our institution and the broader community.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Program Development:
- Lead and oversee the clinical, educational, and research activities of the Headache Medicine Program.
- Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance the program's reputation and impact regionally and nationally.
- Collaborate with institutional leadership to expand access to specialized headache care, including building multidisciplinary collaborations.
- Recruit, mentor, and support faculty, staff, and trainees involved in headache medicine.
Clinical Care:
- Provide comprehensive care for patients with headache and facial pain disorders, including chronic migraine, cluster headache, post-traumatic headache, and other primary and secondary headache conditions.
- Utilize advanced therapies such as Botox, nerve blocks, and other interventional procedures for headache management.
- Foster a patient-centered care model with a focus on improving quality of life and outcomes.
Teaching and Mentorship:
- Educate medical students, residents, and fellows in headache medicine through lectures, clinical supervision, and mentorship.
- Develop and lead educational initiatives, such as headache-specific curricula and training programs.
Research and Scholarship:
- Conduct clinical or translational research in headache medicine, with opportunities to collaborate across departments and institutions.
- Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at national and international conferences.
- Seek extramural funding to support research and program growth.
Administrative Duties:
- Monitor and improve the quality of care provided in the headache program through quality improvement initiatives.
- Manage program resources, including budget planning and operational oversight.
- Represent the headache program in institutional and external forums.
Requirements:
- Board certification in Neurology by the ABMS or AOA
- UCNS-accredited fellowship training and certification in Headache Medicine
- Ability to obtain/maintain New Hampshire medical license
- Demonstrated leadership experience
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team of professionals
- Commitment to advancing the field of headache medicine through innovation, collaboration, and advocacy
