Skills & Knowledge
- Strong expertise in international education, strategic thinking, intercultural communication, risk assessment, and program management.
- Proven ability to build relationships globally and work effectively across divisions.
- Excellent problem-solving, negotiation, and oral/written communication skills.
- 10 years of administrative experience in academia, with 5-8 years in a director role managing international education programs.
- Significant experience living, working, or studying abroad.
- Experience in strategic planning and managing complex, global service-driven programs.
Preferred Qualifications
Terminal degree.

- Lead the development and implementation of strategic plans to support international and domestic study programs, aligning them with Dartmouth’s global engagement and liberal arts objectives.
- Engage with faculty, deans, and other stakeholders to promote best practices in program design, delivery, and administrative operations, ensuring high standards and ethical practices.
- Regularly analyze program data on student participation, evaluation outcomes, and program performance for continuous improvement, advocacy, and external reporting.
- Represent Dartmouth to global stakeholders, fostering relationships that enhance the College’s reputation in international education, and participate actively in professional associations to drive innovation and leadership in the field.
- Provide guidance on institutional policies, ensuring they support the College’s global presence and academic mission.

Program Development & Delivery
- Collaborate with faculty across departments to create and improve off-campus study programs, exploring new models, enhancing curriculum integration, and adjusting existing programs to meet evolving academic and student needs.
- Develop comprehensive pre-departure and re-entry activities that support students’ academic and personal growth, cross-cultural competence, and program safety.
- Ensure that faculty and students are connected with up-to-date resources, research, and best practices in international education and intercultural learning to maximize program impact.

Institute Administration & Global Operations
- Lead, mentor, and support Guarini Institute staff, fostering a collaborative environment that values diversity, professional growth, and teamwork.
- Cultivate strong internal partnerships across College departments and maintain external relationships to ensure program quality, student safety, and seamless operations worldwide.
- Oversee the administration of over 70 study and exchange programs across 30 countries, managing logistics, finances, compliance with international regulations, and participant well-being.
- Manage an annual budget of over $9 million, ensuring financial sustainability and effective resource allocation to support program development and operations.
- Collaborate closely with institutional leaders in areas like risk management, health services, and legal compliance to develop and implement policies and protocols for international program activities.
- Serve as on-call support for emergencies affecting program participants worldwide, handling crisis response across multiple time zones with the ability to make critical decisions quickly and effectively.
