Darrington IGA is looking for an experienced and motivated Meat Manager to lead our meat department. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for daily operations, product quality, food safety, merchandising, and team development. We’re seeking someone who takes pride in fresh product, strong customer service, and building a great team culture.
The Meat Manager oversees all aspects of the meat department including cutting, ordering, inventory control, pricing, merchandising, food safety compliance, and staff supervision. This role sets the standard for quality, cleanliness, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Cut, trim, and prepare meat products to company and industry standards
- Manage ordering, receiving, and inventory levels to maximize sales and control shrink
- Maintain attractive, full, and properly priced meat displays
- Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and HACCP standards
- Train, schedule, and supervise department staff
- Monitor department performance including sales, margins, labor, and shrink
- Provide exceptional customer service and product knowledge
- Maintain clean, organized work areas and equipment
Qualifications
- 3 years meat cutting experience preferred
- Previous department management or supervisory experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of meat cuts, merchandising, and food safety practices
- Ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
