Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Lowboy truck driver to transport heavy equipment and materials to and from our jobsites. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, excellent driving skills, and the ability to load and unload heavy equipment safely and effectively. A minimum of 5 years' experience hauling heavy equipment is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Driving and Navigation: Operate a lowboy truck and trailer to transport heavy equipment or materials from one location to another. This includes navigating routes, following traffic laws, and adhering to driving hours regulations.
- Loading and Securing: Safely load and secure heavy equipment onto the lowboy trailer, ensuring proper weight distribution and stability. This will involve using chains, binders, and other securing methods.
- Inspection: Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of the truck and trailer, ensuring they are in safe operating condition.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate logs of deliveries, pickups, and inspections.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations, procedures, and policies. This includes following DOT rules and regulations.
- Communication: Communicate effectively with office staff, supervisors, and other team members.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL): A validClass A CDL is required.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years' experience hauling heavy equipment is required.
- Safe Driving Record: A clean driving record is essential.
- Mechanical Aptitude: Basic understanding of truck and trailer maintenance.
- Physical Stamina: The job may require physical labor, such as loading and unloading equipment.
- Attention to Detail: Careful attention to detail is necessary for ensuring the safety of the load and complying with regulations.
