Job Summary:

As a Material Handler will be responsible for the efficient and safe movement of materials between various machining stations, including saws, edge banders, and CNC machines. This role requires the ability to read work orders, perform quality checks, and operate pallet jacks and forklifts.

Responsibilities:

Material Handling and Transport:

• Read and interpret work orders to identify material requirements and destinations.
• Safely transport wood and laminate components between saws, edge banders, or CNC machines.
• Utilize pallet jacks and forklifts to move materials throughout the production floor.
• Stack finished and in-process pieces securely on pallets according to specifications.
• Ensure proper label and scanning takes place between operations.

Quality Control:

• Visually inspect materials for any defects or damage during handling.
• Report any quality issues to the machine operator.
• Ensure the correct materials are being moved to the correct machining stations.

Organization and Efficiency:

• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Assist in maintaining proper material flow within the machining department.
• Follow established safety procedures and guidelines.
• Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to read and understand work orders and basic instructions.
• Experience operating pallet jacks is required.
• Forklift certification and experience are preferred (training may be provided).
• Ability to lift and move heavy objects safely and repeatedly (up to 50lbs).
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to follow safety protocols and procedures.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements:

• Production environment with wood dust, noise, moving/mechanical equipment; properly wear required PPE.
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, gripping, pushing/pulling, and material handling.
