Description: Part-Time English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Teacher for Adults
Salary: $30 per hour
(Evening Instructor, approximately 6 hours per week)
Location: Adult Education Center / Hartsville Site
Available: 2026 - 2027 School Year
*A negative TB test result must be on file prior to starting work.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree preferred
- Minimum of five (5) years of highly successful teaching
- Major strengths required in reading, language arts, and communication skills
- Possess or working toward a South Carolina ESOL endorsement
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

Responsible To: Director of Adult Education
Job Goal:
Organize and deliver appropriate English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) instructional curriculum to help adult Limited English Proficient students successfully meet academic standards.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Create a rapport with Adult Education students with limited English Proficiency.
- Administer pre/post tests to identify English Proficiency levels.
- Prepare schedule, plan instructional goals, and provide appropriate instruction to identified students.
- Select and request books, instructional aids, and instructional supplies.
- Support the curriculum and instruction of the regular classroom in accordance with state standards.
- Maintain files with required paperwork for each Limited English Proficient student.
- Commitment to the education profession as evidenced by participation in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
- Confers with other personnel to identify problems and helps plan courses of actions.
- Advocate for language minority students.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
