Role Description The Automation Technician role is a contract position based in Williston, ND with a hybrid work arrangement, allowing some tasks to be completed from home when appropriate. Day-to-day responsibilities include installing, configuring, and maintaining automation systems for energy operations, as well as performing routine preventive maintenance on equipment and control systems. The Automation Technician will troubleshoot electrical and automation issues, support robotics-based solutions, and ensure system performance and reliability in field and facility environments. This role also involves collaborating with operations and engineering teams, documenting work performed, following safety and compliance standards, and providing technical support during start-ups, shutdowns, and system upgrades.
Qualifications
- Strong troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and resolving issues in automation and electrical systems.
- Experience with robotics and automation technologies used in industrial or energy-sector applications.
- Solid understanding of electricity, electrical circuits, and control panels.
- Ability to perform preventive maintenance on automation equipment and related systems.
- Relevant technical certification or associate degree in electronics, instrumentation, automation, or a related field.
- Knowledge of industrial control systems (PLC, HMI, SCADA) and basic programming or configuration is preferred.
- Commitment to safety practices, including adherence to company and regulatory standards in field operations.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Willingness to work in field conditions in and around Williston, ND and travel to customer sites as needed.
