The Darke County Educational Service Center is seeking a teacher for a multiple disabilities elementary classroom for the 2026-2027 school year.

TITLE: Multiple Disability Teacher
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certification as determined by the State Department of Education.
- Shall possess a valid driver's license.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Director of Pupil Services and/or designee.
SUPERVISES: Aides, volunteers, and/or others assigned to assisting in the instructional program.
JOB GOALS: To provide educational experiences and direction intended to raise the functioning level of the child in all appropriate areas.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct assessment of each child's current status in relation to development and identify specific programming needs.
- Implement systematic instructional procedures and methodologies within an appropriate curriculum for the child, based on identified needs and individual learning characteristics.
- Develop, implement and review Individual Educational Program plans (IEP's) to attain individualized goals and objectives for Darke County Multi-Disability Classroom Consortium enrollees.
- Provide classroom, individual and small group, and parent instructional programs.
- Consult with parents on specific student problems and conduct parent/teacher conferences.
- Document ongoing individual progress on identified goals and objectives.
- Modify teaching methods, materials, techniques, classroom organization, and other learning environments, as necessary, to facilitate learning and goal attainment.
- Participate in team approach to student programming.
- Participate in special training and staff development programs, staff meetings, and other specialized programs.
- Complete all necessary reports on the program and/or child, as need arises.
- Assumes responsibility for own professional growth and development; for keeping current with the literature, new research findings, and improved techniques.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serves as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings.
- Helps instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values.
- Remains free of an alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout employment in the ESC.
- Conducts other duties related to the Multiple-Disability teacher's duties as assigned by the Director of Pupil Services and/or designee.
ADDITIONAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue.
- Occasional operation of a vehicle under inclement weather conditions.
- Occasional interaction among unruly children.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Employed on a 185-day contract.
- Salary to be established as per salary schedule.
- Vacations and holidays as per board policy.
- Retirement and Sick Leave days accumulated as determined by board policy.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Director of Pupil Services and/or designee in cooperation with the person being evaluated.
