Dare County Schools is looking for dynamic and innovative instructional leaders who can articulate and guide a school wide vision for excellence in teaching and learning.
The Dare Learning Academy Coordinator is a dynamic leadership role designed for an educator who thrives in non-traditional settings. This position serves as the primary administrator and advocate for our alternative learning program while leading with a student-centered approach.
The Coordinator is responsible for creating a restorative, rigorous, and safe environment where a diverse population of learners can find a path to success.
Qualifications:
Have the desire to lead the top performing school in the state.- Administrative and teaching experience required.
- Must possess or be able to hold a license in school administration from the State of North Carolina.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
Instructional Leadership & Program Management
- Curriculum Oversight: Design and facilitate a flexible educational program that meets state standards while accommodating individual learning paces.
- Strategic Planning: Develop long-term goals for the Academy, ensuring alignment with district mandates and the specific needs of alternative learners.
- Compliance: Manage student records, credits, and graduation requirements with meticulous attention to detail.
- Student Support & Advocacy
- Socio-Emotional Learning (SEL): Implement trauma-informed practices and restorative justice models to manage behavior and build community.
- Individualized Success Plans: Work directly with students to create academic and post-secondary roadmaps that address their unique strengths and challenges.
- Crisis Intervention: Act as the primary point of contact for students in distress, providing immediate support and coordinating with external mental health resources.
- Operational Excellence
- Staff Supervision: Recruit, mentor, and evaluate a small team of dedicated educators and support staff.
- Budgeting: Manage the Academy’s fiscal resources, ensuring all materials and programs are funded and utilized efficiently.
- Safety & Culture: Maintain a secure, welcoming campus environment that prioritizes student belonging and physical safety.
