We’re seeking a motivated Billing Clerk / Legal Assistant to join our team and support both our administrative and legal operations. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where accuracy and discretion are key.
Position Overview
The Billing Clerk / Legal Assistant plays a vital role in managing client billing, maintaining accurate financial records, and providing general administrative support to our attorneys. This position requires excellent communication skills, a strong sense of confidentiality, and the ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and send client invoices accurately and on time
- Enter attorney time and expenses into the billing system
- Track payments, manage accounts receivable, and follow up on outstanding balances
- Maintain organized billing, case, and client files
- Draft and format correspondence, pleadings, and other legal documents under attorney supervision
- File documents with the court (electronic and/or physical filing)
- Manage calendars, client communications, and general office support tasks
- Handle sensitive information with professionalism and discretion
Qualifications
- Prior experience in billing, bookkeeping, or legal administration required
- Experience in family law or a legal office strongly preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and PDF software
- Familiarity with legal billing or practice management systems
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred
