Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Clinic Supervisor RN, the Clinic Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) will play a critical role in the optimizing the clinic workflow and working collaboratively with the team to create a patient centered environment. Guided by the policies and procedures of the DAP Health Clinics, the Clinic LVN has the responsibility for oversight of daily clinic workflow and developing and maintaining a high standard of patient care.
Job Status: Full-time/Part time, Hourly, Non-exempt
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Oversees the day-to-day operations and patient care of the assigned clinic as well as directed by the Clinic Supervisor RN.
- Attends daily clinic huddle and encourages interdepartmental communication.
- Maintains ongoing two-way communication with scheduling/check-in desk.
- Assists with:
- Supervision of Clinic Certified Medical Assistants (CMA’s) and volunteers.
- Administration of medications/vaccines, lab result review and monitoring, treatments and procedures.
- Patient flow during clinic hours.
- Conducts supply inventory no less frequently than monthly to maintain established PAR levels.
- Ensures patient safety.
- Accesses patient-protected health information as needed.
- Provides oversight of assigned clinician’s in-box in Epic and reply and/or route messages to the appropriate staff.
- Checks equipment to insure proper functioning.
- Provides oversight to assure preparation of exam rooms between patients.
- Performs venipuncture or swab testing when assistance required from nursing staff or clinicians.
- Stocks Medication Room for nurses to retrieve items for exam rooms.
- Communicates positively with patients and outside parties utilizing excellent customer service and communication skills on a daily basis via phone/electronic contact, mail correspondence, and personal contact with both internal and external customers.
- Communicates with pharmacies regarding prescription orders.
- Supports the standards of the policies and procedures of Dap Health, and is responsible for maintaining current knowledge of pharmacology and competency in modes of administration.
- Complies with all ambulatory services and DAP Health policies and procedures for infection control, safety, and administrative and clinical practice.
- Effectively reviews lab reports with patients.
- Serves as patient advocate/liaison.
- Completes all paperwork accurately and efficiently.
- Answers telephone and relays messages.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proficient in the utilization of the electronic medical record system as it applies to the position.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Engagement in complete delivery of quality customer care in an effective and professional manner.
- Bilingual in Spanish, preferred.
Education and Experience:
- Degree in Nursing –completion of an LVN accredited program.
- Active Licensed Vocational Nurse licensure in the State of California.
- Minimum of two years’ experience as an LVN, required.
- I.V. Therapy certified.
- Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross accredited BLS certification.
- Experience working with LGBTQ, preferred.
- Experience with documentation in electronic medical record (EPIC, etc.), preferred.
Salary : $31 - $32
