Skilled Veterinary Technician (CVT preferred)

Danza Del Sol Veterinary Medical Center is looking for a skilled Veterinary Assistant or a Certified Veterinary Technicians (CVT) to join our team.

We are a relaxed, privately owned veterinary practice located in the heart of the Verde Valley in Cornville. We are seeking skilled candidates to help provide top notch care to our clients and our patients.

We are looking for an individual who delivers unparalleled care to our patients. The ideal candidate will have either a CVT in Arizona (preferred), or at least 3 years of experience in a veterinary practice. Hands-on technical skills are a must.

All candidate should have a mastery of the following;

• obtaining patient vital signs
• taking a detailed patient history and data entry (in S.O.A.P. format)
• client education (basic and advanced principals)
• ability to discuss the importance of oral hygiene in canine and feline patients
• vaccination schedules
• preventive care recommendations
• prescription and maintenance diets
• phlebotomy (blood collection and I.V. catheter placement)
• anesthesia monitoring (routine and critical patients)
• proper use of anatomical and physiological terminology to describe problems
• sample collection and preparation for in-house and reference laboratory processing
• basic pharmacology and drug calculations (under DVM guidance)
• endoparasite and ectoparasite detection and prevention
• injection protocols (I.V., I.M., S.Q.)
• proper care of dental and surgical instruments

We are a small team where everyone must be willing to help with all aspects of the operation of the hospital. From assisting team members in need, cleaning duties, and occasionally answering phones or billing out a client, we always have each others back.

Ideal candidates would also:

• Have familiarity with ultrasound imaging and/or ultrasound guided sample collection
• have a working knowledge of Avimark
• be familiar with Idexx in-house lab equipment
• be proficient with dental cleaning and radiology, as well as after care
• Possess ability to set-up cytology samples
• have experience with exotics/avian patient care in a clinical environment

We have a great core team and want to add to it. The person we are looking for must have a strong background in clinical practice, This is not an entry level position.

Attention to detail matters, candidates must have a strong grasp of the English language. Being able to speak and write in a professional manner is mandatory.

Candidates with a CVT in good standing in Arizona will receive preference.

There may be room for advancement in the future for the right candidate.

New graduates from AVMA Accredited technician programs who have not yet passed the VTNE are encouraged to apply.
