The primary purpose of the position is to improve the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of health care by integrating clinical and information processes necessary to achieve successful adoption and application of new technologies throughout the VHA. This position is located in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Veterans Health Administration (VHA), at the Danville VA Medical Center, within the Veterans Integrated Service-Office of Health Informatics, in Danville, IL.
Specialized Experience: You must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience that equipped them with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position. To be creditable, this experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes: experience in informatics responsible for improving the quality, efficiency and effectiveness of health care by integrating clinical and information processes in a health care environment; utilizing and training others in the use of an electronic health record system and associated clinical software to include conducting evaluations of clinical software needs; using available tools to make modifications to, design, or enhance software applications; testing and troubleshooting software to identify root causes and solutions of problems; and experience in the planning, support and implementation of software packages that integrate with various clinical multi-service software packages

Responsibilities:

The major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Provides personnel management and administration for the program with varied functions and activities with new changing requirements;
- Coordinates administrative review of clinical privileges for physicians and staff in compliance with Credentialing and Privileging;
- Prepares and maintains all submissions and administrative documentation related to human subject research associated with quality improvement, program evaluation, and research functions of a national program in order to evaluate new initiatives and progress toward program goals;
- Responsible for data collection, validation, interpretation, analysis, and reporting;
- Researches, interprets and analyzes health care policies, directives, regulations, etc.
- Determines the impact on Service operations, functions, funding, staffing levels, and resources;
- Participates in various planning, financial and operational committees and boards;
- Extracts data using a variety of software packages and data sources, and applies analytical techniques to develop recommendations for process improvement; and
- Performs other related duties as required.
