What are the responsibilities and job description for the Foundation Intern position at Danville Science Center?
The Danville Science Center Foundation is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to expand our team for the Summer!
The Danville Science Center’s new internship program will include training and professional experience within a nonprofit organization. Areas of focus will include marketing, fundraising, board governance, donor stewardship, and operations. Individuals should be pursuing a degree in Nonprofit Management, Museums Studies, Business Administration, or related field.
Learning Goals
- Gain hands-on board governance and operational experience within a nonprofit organization
- Gain hands-on development experience through campaigns, grant management, and donor recognition
- Apply current marketing, stewardship, and event planning techniques to work projects
- Enhance communication skills
Minimum Qualifications and Expectations
- Familiarity with G-Suite (Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Forms, etc.)
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work independently
- Think outside the box and be willing to shift focus
- Strong communication and engagement skills to include; written, oral and active listening.
Compensation
Internships have an hourly wage of $17/ hour. If you would like to receive academic credit for your internship, please inquire with your university to see if this can be arranged. We will make accommodations for this whenever possible.
Duration
Internships are 8-12 weeks and run from mid/late May to the beginning/mid August. Interns will work 15-20 hours/ week. Detailed schedules will be determined on an individual basis once the final candidate is identified.
