What are the responsibilities and job description for the Preventative Maintenance Specialist position at Danville Public Schools?
GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK
Under the supervision of the Director and Assistant Director of Environmental Services (EVS) and Operations the PM Specialist ensures work orders, PMs, and other projects are on track and completed on a timely manner.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Manage SchoolDude and ProCore, the work order and PM programs;
- Assign work orders to the appropriate trade;
- Ensure work is complete prior to closing work orders;
- Ensure work orders are filled out completely by tradesman;
- Schedule and coordinate large moves;
- Schedule and coordinate deliveries;
- Pull supplies from warehouse; Performs other duties as assigned by the Director and Assistant Director of Environmental Services and Operations, including but not limited to grounds clean up due to inclement weather and special projects.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of the methods and skills used in the repair of electrical and mechanical components, DDC, boilers, hot water/steam piping and functioning of air-conditioning units, systems, equipment, and application-specific and basic computer programs;
- Knowledge of common hazards and necessary safety precautions;
- Knowledge of local, state, and national codes;
- Ability to work in all weather conditions, at heights, and in confined spaces;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school officials and staff, co-workers, and the public; Must possess excellent organizational and communication skills and a high level of attention to detail.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS
High School Graduate. At least 5 years of experience working in a school system. Computer experience. Experience with SchoolDude work order system is a plus.

- Occasional carrying, pushing, or pulling boxes;
- Clarity of vision at varying distances to observe diagnostic instruments, manuals, and other printed information;
- Verbal, auditory, and written capabilities to effectively communicate in an articulate manner. Perform physically demanding work.
EVALUATION
Will be evaluated annually on the effectiveness by which one has carried out the above responsibilities.
