Junior High Volleyball - Assistant Coach
Overview:
Danville Community School District is seeking a Junior High Volleyball Assistant Coach to support the Head Coach in leading the junior high volleyball program. This role involves assisting with practices, player development, and game-day coaching while fostering a positive and supportive team environment.
Qualifications:
- Valid Iowa Coaching License required
- Previous coaching experience (preferred, but not required)
- Knowledge of volleyball fundamentals, rules, and coaching techniques
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes
- Commitment to promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and player development
Responsibilities:
- Coaching and Player Development:
- Assist in planning and conducting practices, drills, and conditioning sessions
- Provide individual and team instruction on skills, strategy, and game fundamentals
- Encourage and mentor student-athletes to improve performance and teamwork
- Monitor athlete progress and support personal and athletic growth
- Practice & Event Support:
- Help manage team logistics, including equipment, schedules, and travel
- Support game-day coaching, lineup decisions, and in-game strategy
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all student-athletes
- Assist in organizing and maintaining facilities and equipment
- Mentorship and Leadership:
- Serve as a role model for student-athletes, emphasizing academic success and character development
- Foster a culture of discipline, dedication, and teamwork
- Communicate effectively with the Head Coach, players, parents, and school administration
- Communication:
- Communicate effectively with the Head Coach, athletes, parents, and school administration.
- Provide updates on practices, game schedules, and other important information.
- Address any concerns or questions from athletes and parents in a timely and professional manner.
