Here’s what the job entails
In the role, your primary function will be to support with carrying out all analyses needed for forecasting congestion prices (locational spreads in power markets). Concretely, your areas of responsibility will include the following:
- perform load flow analysis of transmission and distribution systems, including contingency analysis
- perform production cost modelling and transmission congestion analysis of power markets
- lead data input, output processes and maintain datasets and templates required for transmission and nodal modelling
- carry out research and stay updated on latest power market developments in prominent ISO/RTO markets that influence power price forecasts
- support the modelling and policy analysis related to transmission and renewable energy
Meet the team
As our new transmission analyst, you will join our FTR Trading team which develops systems to simulate the flow of power in wholesale electricity markets. We predict and analyze transmission constraints to systematically trade Financial Transmission Rights (FTR) in the US Eastern Interconnection and Texas. We also give forward views to term trading and project development.

As you will have the responsibility for a wide range of tasks that require you to take initiative and follow up, we are looking for someone who takes an innovative approach to problem-solving. Also, as you will be dealing with a lot of data, we imagine that you take an analytical and curious approach to handling data.
Furthermore, we expect that you:
- have experiencing with data processing and power system analysis
- have an educational background in Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or similar
- are interested in learning (or perhaps you already have insight in) industry-standard power flow tools such as GE-PSLF, PSS/E, PowerWorld
- are interested in learning (or perhaps you already have proficiency in) Java or C#
- have a Green Card or US citizenship

Salary : $93,100 - $118,000
