Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer to support the design, implementation, and maintenance of control systems and instrumentation used in facility operations. This role ensures reliable and safe process automation through the specification, programming, and troubleshooting of field instrumentation and control systems, including PLCs, DCS, SCADA, and safety systems.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain instrumentation and control systems for process automation
- Specify, select, and calibrate field instruments (e.g., pressure, temperature, level, flow transmitters)
- Develop control logic and programming for PLCs, DCS, and HMI/SCADA systems
- Support commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting of I&C systems
- Prepare documentation including loop diagrams, wiring schematics, control narratives, and P&IDs
- Ensure control systems comply with safety, regulatory, and industry standards
- Provide technical support to operations and maintenance teams
- Participate in hazard analysis (HAZOP/LOPA), SIL assessments, and instrument functional testing
- Collaborate with project engineers, vendors, and contractors on instrumentation-related deliverable
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, or related field
3 years of experience in instrumentation and control engineering
Proficiency with PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens), DCS (e.g., DeltaV, Honeywell), and SCADA systems
Knowledge of process instrumentation, control valve sizing, loop tuning, and safety systems
Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., ISA, NFPA, IEC, API)
Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills
Field experience in commissioning/start-up is a plus
PE license or pursuit of licensure is a plus
