Summary

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Infant and Toddler Teacher to join a Family Day Home serving infants ages 6 weeks–3 years. This role begins in a home-based setting and may have the option of transitioning to a center environment within approximately 70 days as the program expands.

This position requires a professional who understands the importance of responsive caregiving, safe sleep practices, and early brain development. The ideal candidate is dependable, experienced, and capable of working independently while maintaining high standards of care and documentation.

The Infant and Toddler Teacher is responsible for providing consistent, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate care in a structured environment. This role supports feeding routines, daily documentation, milestone development, and regulatory compliance while building positive relationships with families.

This is a part-time role (approximately 20 hours per week to start), with schedule details to be finalized based on program needs.

Duties

Provide attentive, responsive care for infants and toddlers in a mixed-age classroom setting.

Support feeding routines, diapering, toileting readiness, and sleep schedules in accordance with licensing regulations.

Follow all safe sleep practices and health and safety standards at all times.

Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that support cognitive, language, motor, and social-emotional development.

Differentiate activities and interactions based on individual developmental stages.

Guide toddler behavior using positive redirection and developmentally appropriate strategies.

Maintain accurate daily logs and required documentation (feeding, diapering, sleep, incidents, observations).

Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized learning environment.

Communicate professionally with families regarding daily routines, progress, and concerns.

Support compliance with all state regulations and program policies.

Demonstrate flexibility and professionalism during the transition from a home-based mixed-age setting to future separate classrooms.

Participate in ongoing professional development to strengthen classroom quality.

Requirements

Minimum of 2 years of documented professional experience working with infants and/or toddlers

Experience in a licensed child care setting preferred

Current TB test (or ability to obtain prior to start date)

CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain before beginning employment)

Ability to pass all required background checks in accordance with state child care regulations

Strong understanding of safe sleep practices and infant/toddler health and safety standards

Experience maintaining daily logs and required classroom documentation

Reliable transportation and consistent punctuality

Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and actively engage with children throughout the day

Nice To Haves

Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education (if degree is required but field is flexible, specify ECE preferred here)

CDA (Child Development Associate) credential

Experience in a licensed Family Day Home or center-based infant/toddler classroom

Experience working in a mixed-age setting

Familiarity with early learning standards or curriculum planning

Experience preparing documentation for licensing inspections

Bilingual

Experience mentoring assistants or classroom aides

Knowledge of positive behavior guidance strategies

Experience supporting center transitions or classroom setup

Ability to work independently in a mixed-age classroom setting
