What are the responsibilities and job description for the Caregiver position at Daniel Services Organization?
Together with Colorado Springs-based PASA Families for Families, we are seeking care for our home-based adult daughter recovering from a severe brain injury. We are looking for a encouraging, high energy and positive-minded direct support professional to join our team, which consists of 4-5 caregivers providing companionship and therapeutic support as she recovers from a severe brain injury.
Inquiries will be accepted for 4 days from the initial date of posting (as displayed on really).
Responsibilities will include:
- Following Treatment Plans and daily procedures with an easy-to-follow checklist
- Offering encouraging assistance with ADLs
- Accompanying our daughter on hikes and assorted community outings
- Demonstrating socially appropriate behavior & conversation around the community
- Sharing warm companionship and supporting our daughter to recognize how she can positively interact with others
- Arriving to work promptly and reliably completing shifts as scheduled, while
- Documenting the daily activities and noted behaviors
- And maintaining a functional vehicle to drive between our home and community destinations
At present, we are looking for an individual to cover 2 regular afternoon shifts:
- Thursday 2-9p
- Saturday 2-9p
There are also opportunities to pick up additional shifts each month when other caregivers might not be able to attend a scheduled shift.
The general schedule for p.m. shifts involves:
- 200-215 - Arrive, review recent caregiving notes
- 215-230 - Complete preparations for the afternoon activities
- 230-245 - Assist client waking up from respote
- 245-615- Outing including Hikes, Museum visits, Fitness ...
- 615-700 - Return Home, put backpack items away, play cognitive game or read
- 700-800 -Dinner Preparations and eating
- 800-830 -Support client with Shower and evening hygiene
- 830-900 -Settle client down to enjoy media while documenting the afternoon activities and behaviors
Incoming team members start at a $23/hr starting rate for shadow shifts and advances to $25/hr after 30 days of solo shifts.
Our opening will be an especially good fit for caregivers with active and outdoor lifestyles, preferably a caregiver who is comfortable with and supportive of our Christian household . Our daughter is fully ambulatory, interested and ready for outings, especially hiking and fitness-related, around our SW Springs home.
