About the Role:

The Apprentice Electrician role is intended to provide hands-on training and practical experience in the electrical trade in exchange for hard work and production, under the supervision of experienced electricians. The primary goal is to balance the apprentice's understanding of production on the jobsite while developing technical skills, knowledge of electrical systems, and safety practices to prepare them for a successful career as a licensed electrician. This position involves learning to install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures in residential, commercial, and industrial settings, and honing skills through extensive repetition. The apprentice will gain a comprehensive understanding of electrical codes, blueprints, and regulations while contributing to the completion of various construction projects. Ultimately, this role serves as a foundational step toward becoming a skilled electrician capable of working independently and ensuring electrical systems operate safely and efficiently.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic understanding of electrical concepts and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.
  • Consistent punctuality and reliability.
  • Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Enrollment in an accredited training program

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience or coursework in electrical work or related fields.
  • Familiarity with hand and power tools used in electrical work.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist journeyman electricians in installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
  • Learn to read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and electrical codes to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Perform basic electrical tasks such as measuring, cutting, bending conduit, and pulling wire under supervision.
  • Participate in on-the-job training and attend related classroom instruction to develop technical knowledge and skills.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following all safety protocols and using personal protective equipment.
  • Help troubleshoot electrical issues and support the team in completing projects on time and within specifications.
  • Document work performed and report progress to supervisors to track learning and development milestones.

The required skills such as basic electrical knowledge and physical stamina are essential for performing daily tasks like wiring installation and equipment maintenance safely and efficiently. Apprentices use their ability to follow instructions and carry out orders to assist in complex electrical projects while adhering to safety codes.
