Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Application Developer to join our team. The Application Developer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining enterprise applications and databases in support of NRHQ’s business needs. Working from a prioritized product backlog, the developer will create new application features, enhance existing systems, fix defects, and ensure that all software meets functional requirements and quality standards. They will collaborate with the Program Manager and product stakeholders to understand requirements and will produce technical documentation and user guides as needed. This role requires both independent problem-solving and teamwork within an Agile Scrum development environment.
Duties
- Develop and implement new applications, databases, and enhancements based on prioritized product backlog requirements.
- Design, code, and configure solutions (ServiceNow platform experience desired but not required).
- Develop and execute comprehensive test plans, leveraging automated testing tools where possible, to validate functional requirements.
- Draft and revise end-user operational instructions, technical documentation, and program materials for new or updated applications.
- Provide ongoing maintenance support, including defect resolution, enhancement implementation, and troubleshooting for existing applications based on documented requirements.
- Collaborate in Agile/Scrum teams to deliver high-quality, mission-critical solutions in a secure environment.
- Ensure compliance with applicable DOE/NR laws, regulations, orders, guidelines, and policies
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on application development experience, OR a four-year degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology).
- Ability to obtain/maintain DOE L-level access authorization (U.S. citizenship required).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in developing web-based applications; experience with JavaScript and HTML for front-end development.
- Agile Environment: Experience working in an Agile/Scrum team environment is beneficial, as the team uses iterative development with sprints and backlog tracking (the developer will participate in sprint planning, reviews, and continuous integration processes).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Specific experience with the ServiceNow platform (highly desired).
- Familiarity with automated testing tools, databases, custom workflows, or Agile/Scrum development.
- Experience in federal government, DOE, Navy, or high-security IT projects.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $70,000.00 - $89,000.00 per year
