What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Assistant position at Dancing Paws Animal Wellness Center?
We're an integrative specialty veterinary clinic providing services including acupuncture, chiropractic care and rehabilitation for dogs and cats! Our office is privately owned and not a corporate practice. We are seeking a full-time veterinary assistant to join our team of dedicated staff. Daily duties will include:
- Welcoming clients into the office for appointments and obtaining patient history and vitals
- Performing checkouts and scheduling
- Cleaning and disinfecting
- Filling prescriptions
- Managing canine hydrotherapy sessions in our water treadmill
- Occasionally processing lab samples for shipping
- Restocking small retail space and medical supplies
We're limited to holistic services, and as such primary care (e.g. vaccinations, general surgery, diagnostic imaging, acute illness visits, boarding) is outside the scope of what we provide.
Because we're a small office, employee absences have a large impact; reliability and punctuality are essential. Must be friendly and have excellent people skills! Employees may be asked to occasionally mask during appointments for pet owners with health concerns. Employees must be able to be on their feet for long periods of time and lift 25 lbs.
The work hours for this position are 11:15 am to 9:15 pm Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. There is also a rotating schedule for a daily clinic checks when the office is closed on Wednesdays and weekends; this check includes caring for the in-house clinic cats.
Employees are provided with two pairs of high quality scrubs. Paid vacation time, health insurance, matching 401(k) and employee discount are part of available benefits. Major holidays (New Year's, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas) are paid.
