Maintenance Technician Class II1-B and 1-D position each

1.  Perform all Mechanical Technician Class I, II, III & IV (mechanic, pipefitter, welder and general mechanic) work as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor, Lead Person or his designee, pertaining to all site equipment, structure and grounds. Reference the Union Contract for Class definitions.

Millwright’s position includes, but is not limited to:

  • Installation, start-up, troubleshooting, and repair of all mechanical equipment and systems
  • Use of precision measuring instruments
  • Precision alignment of mechanical equipment
  • Recommendations on the resolution of ongoing mechanical problems
  • Basic design of modifications to mechanical systems

Pipefitter’s position includes, but is not limited to:

  • Design and specifying of basic piping systems
  • Layout, fabrication and installation of screwed and welded carbon steel pipe per drawings and sketches
  • Layout, fabrication and installation of stainless steel and copper tubing systems per drawings and sketches
  • Repair of existing piping systems

Welder’s position includes, but is not limited to:

  • Fabrication and installation of stainless steel, carbon steel and specialty metal pipe welding to ASME code specifications.
  • Structural welding to Code specification
  • Stainless steel and carbon steel sheet metal welding for duct work. Fabrication and installation of stainless steel and carbon steel sheet metal weldments
  • Layout and fabrication of structural weldments
  • Repair of existing welded piping and structural systems
  • General Mechanic’s (Class IV) position includes, but is not limited to:
  • Provide assistance on the duties above
  • Adjusting belt and chain tension
  • Perform site-wide lubrication duties using different grades of oil and grease.
  • Operate and update INFOR, EXCEL, or other computer applications in order to complete assigned tasks
  • Perform other preventative maintenance tasks
  • Operate a JLG and fork lift

2.  Ability to troubleshoot equipment and process problems as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor, Lead Person or his designee. Ability to understand the problem, determine the cause of the problem, develop a plan of action and implement the plan.

3.  Ability to read and comprehend maintenance procedures, equipment manuals, and construction drawings and sketches. Ability to do math associated with the job.

4.  Proficient in the use of hand and power tools.

5.  Basic knowledge of three phase electrical power.

6.  Ability to perform duties from elevated platforms, access structures and ladders as required, enter and work in confined spaces, and ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

7.  Provide maintenance work feedback in a legible written fashion and provide good oral communications to coworkers, production supervision and the maintenance supervisor.

8.  Participate in site programs to assist in the continuous development and improvement of the site.

9.  Ability to follow all Plant Rules and safety regulations and to perform all work in a safe manner. Report all injuries and unsafe conditions.

10. Perform other duties as assigned by the maintenance supervisor, lead person or his designee.

11. The Mechanical Technician has the authority to make decisions related to his area of expertise (mechanic, pipefitting, welding, and general mechanic) as it related to his general duties in the repair or installation of site equipment, structure or grounds Beyond his level of expertise, recommendations are made to the Maintenance Supervisor, Lead Person or his designee.
