What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Camp Director position at Danbee Arts & Dance Camp?
Berkshire Lake Arts Camp is seeking a motivated, energetic leader to join our team as Assistant Director.
Each summer, we create a supportive, warm community for girls in the Berkshires to explore their love of performing and visual arts. As a newer camp, we're seeking someone who is energized by growth and eager to play a meaningful role in shaping our developing programs and systems. In this role, you'll play an important part in all aspects of camp, including: staff hiring, social media and communication, connecting with families, and planning both the summer program calendar and staff orientation.
During the summer, you'll be deeply involved in camper residential life, offering steady leadership to our counselor team and ensuring a positive, inclusive community. You'll mentor staff, assist with parent communication, and help manage camp operations with clarity, calm, and good judgment.
The ideal candidate is an emerging leader with notable overnight camp experience and prior supervisory responsibility, who is ready for the next step in their career. Strong communication skills, maturity, and the ability to respond thoughtfully under pressure are essential. A personal passion for the arts is a plus.
You'll start off working remotely 20–25 hours per week from January to May. Once camp season begins, the role becomes full-time and requires living onsite from June through August. After the summer, there may be an opportunity for the position to grow into a full-time, year-round role.
Salary for the season starts at $20,000.
